DIAGNOSIS

The clinical evaluation before treatment consists of a history focused on venous pathology, taking into account a history of other treatments, surgeries, thrombosis, congenital heart disease, current medications, and some type of allergy.

.

Typical symptoms associated with chronic venous insufficiency include:

.

Pain

Burning

Heaviness

Tiredness

Itch

Night cramps

Swelling

Ulcers.

.

The medical history is completed with a physical examination focused on the lower extremities, including checking for pulses, evaluation of abnormal superficial veins.

For most patients, a color Doppler duplex ultrasound is the cornerstone of the pretreatment evaluation, as it identifies venous reflux, determines the patency and anatomy of the deep and superficial venous systems, and establishes the pattern of the illness. It is a non-invasive and painless imaging test.

Only after such a thorough examination can the specialist tailor a suitable treatment plan, which may include different modalities that complement each other and are likely to last a few sessions.

At Variclinic we have a team of doctors specialized in clinical and imaging diagnosis of vascular pathology.
